The United Kingdom is home to people from every country in the world with different cultures, backgrounds, religions, beliefs, history. Among this diverse population, many have very little or no knowledge of English and a poor understanding of the public sector and its systems. Government departments and the private sector organizations rely on interpreters to assist limited English speakers to actively promote equality, protect human rights, and eliminate discrimination. Interpreters are needed to ensure that speakers of other languages can access services, can understand and be understood, and that service providers interacting with them can complete their duties to the best of their abilities.
